As you will have seen from tapestry – we have been enjoying our snack again at Nursery. We have fresh fruit for one of our snacks either in the morning or afternoon and then we order in some other healthy foods for the children to try at the other snack time. The new children are learning the routines of snack time and have been joining in brilliantly. The older children have been helping to show the new children what to do!
The children have loved exploring outside in the cold and we have talked a lot about ice, cold, freezing, melting and snow! They are so curious and have asked lots of questions about ice and how it is made. We have looked at putting water in our outside area before we go home and then seeing what has happened to it by the morning. We have found it has frozen every night this week and we can actually pick up sheets of ice!
We have been reading The 3 Little Pigs and the children are learning all of the words! They are already so good at retelling the story and love using the props to create the houses. Their favourite part is pretending to be the wolf and blowing it all down!
Please read through the weekly email sent this morning. If you are still not receiving them for any reason then please go to the main office to check your contact details.
We have loved having parents and adults into Nursery again this week and even though we had less children in todays performance, you would never know with the volume level! We are incredibly proud of them all and we hope you are too. They looked and sounded fabulous.
Here are the photos from today and our videos.

Hello! Thank you so much to everyone who came to watch one of our performances today. We are looking forward to seeing more of you on Thursday.
The children were a little shy in front of parents but they did a brilliant job and we are so proud of them. They all looked amazing and here are some great photos from today.

This week we have been doing all things Christmas! We have started and finished making special cards, calendars, decorations and cakes! The children are having so much fun and love the singing we are doing to get ready for our performances next week.
Next week is very busy and we have lots going on so please take a look at the email I have sent out regarding what is happening. We break up next Friday and we are off school until Wednesday 5th January.
On Tuesday night the Christmas elves came into our classroom and left lots of things that have made it very Christmassy! We have lots of twinkly lights, nativity dress up clothes, a tree and a Christmas post office.
The children have loved dressing up as angels and they have been sharing the costumes really nicely with each other which is lovely. they have been learning our Christmas songs and we are practicing hard for our performances for you!
We have been very busy with lots of Christmas activities and we will continue to be busy with these until the end of term! The children may tell you what we have been doing but so far we have been making Christmas cakes, salt dough tree decorations and colouring in our own bauble designs!
The children absolutely loved reading the story of brown bear. It is a great story for looking at colours and animals and we did some fantastic, colourful activities.
The children named the colours and sorted out objects. We also made our own key group brown bear books which included a picture of ourselves! This was great practice for the children to write their names.
Next week we will be starting to think about Christmas and advent. Our Christmas decorations will be going up and our Christmas singing will continue! If you haven’t already done so, please book a slot to come to watch our sing a long at Christmas!
We have had such a fantastic time this week going on our first school trip! Harlow Carr gardens are so beautiful at this time of year and we enjoyed taking part in ‘Signs of the Seasons’ workshop. We looked closely at what it might look like in each season but particularly in Autumn. We collected lots of different leaves, met some furry friends, built hedgehog houses, made leaf faces and walked through the grounds. Having a packed lunch was also really exciting and the children loved this. After lunch we visited two adventure playgrounds – one with a tree house and one with a slide! Please take some time to look through these lovely photos from all of our trip days.
Next week we will be reading the story – Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? This is a lovely story that the children will get to know really well!
We have been so busy in Nursery this week and have done lots and lots of art activities. We have been learning about remembrance day and have decorated our own poppies. We have watched this lovely short clip and spoke a little bit about why we have a silence, why we wear poppies and what we are remembering – here is the BBC video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOT5CDnYHEs
We have also been painting animals from our story and have been creating our own stormy weather pictures. The children have done some lovely art work and they should be very proud!

- If you are still unsure which day your child is going, please ask me on the gate.

- If you have had a slip from me confirming you are coming as a parent volunteer you will also need to arrive and stay from 8:45.
- Please bring yourself and your child a packed lunch. School are not providing lunch so ALL children will need to bring a packed lunch from home on the day of their trip (no nuts/nut spreads in packed lunches please as we have children with allergies).
- There will be no time to go to a shop/café when there so please make sure they have everything with them, including a water bottle for the day.
- We will be taking our usual snack with us from school and cartons of milk.
- Please make sure the children have sensible outdoor shoes on (trainers, wellies etc) and bring a coat with them. Hats and gloves are also advised as we will be spending the majority of the day outside.
- If your child is car/motion sick then please let us know prior to the trip as we can make sure they are seated near an adult.
- We will be arriving back at school between 2:45 and 3pm. If there are delays for any reason we will let school know and they will send out a text message.

This week we have been celebrating and learning about Diwali at Nursery. The children have been taking part in lots of colourful activities and have even learnt a Diwali dance. This was a particular favourite as the music is so happy and the lady on the board broke the dance down into easy steps for the children to copy. This is the link to the dance we have been doing – the children might like to show you at home! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmyalShkAz0
The children have been busy colouring in rangoli patterns and making their own clay diwa lamps too. They really enjoyed getting their hands dirty in the clay and then decorating their lamp.
Next week we will be reading After the Storm and doing some art work based on the story.
