This week at Nursery, we have been learning about ourselves and each other as we settle into our group. Our learning theme for this half-term is ‘All About Me’, which supports us to develop our sense of self and belonging within our ACE Nursery community as we begin our school year together.

For our focused activity this week, we had a go at creating our own pen self-portraits. We looked closely in the mirror, noticing the lines, shapes and features we needed to include when creating our drawings. We practised holding our pen towards the bottom between our thumb and fingers and using our hand to hold our paper steady.

We showed careful concentration as we formed the marks, lines and shapes needed to create our self-portraits! We showed great pride in the end result, sharing them with the adults and putting them on display!

We will continue to share photos of the children’s home experiences on Tapestry and display family photos in our home corner. This supports the children to settle in and develop a sense of belonging at Nursery. In sharing photographs and talking about our own experiences, we also learn lots about our community and how we are all unique and special! Please upload a family photo if you haven’t done already to Tapestry and keep adding photographs of family events, celebrations and wow moments at home. We love to share them together at Nursery!
