A fruity fun week in Nursery.

We have had another great week in Nursery this week. We made a summer fruits salad and talked about the season – Summer. We know that some berries and fruits only grow in summer and this is why they are called summer fruits. We loved making the fruit salad and having it for our snack. It was yummy!

We also made our caterpillar cafes by finding lots of juicy leaves for the caterpillars and creating our signs to let the caterpillars know that food is nearby. We had great fun!

Nursery Sports Day!

We had such a great time at our Nursery Sports Day this week. All of the children took part in the running, balancing and hopping races – it was such fun! It was great to see so many parents, careers, grandparents, siblings and friends supporting; thank you so much for coming. Here are some snaps from a great day!

PARENT PICNICS IN NURSERY

We have absolutely loved having our parents in this week to join us for our parent picnics. Not only did we share lots of yummy food with them but we also shared our learning of the story Hungry Harry. We performed it to our parents and loved having them in Nursery – take a look at all the fun we had!

MINIBEAST MAD!

We are minibeast mad in Nursery and we are loving our new topic. We have created our own spiders webs and created a minibeast hotel for all the wonderful minibeasts. Next week, we will go on a hunt and see if any minibeasts have made a home in our hotel. We loved collecting the natural resources and thinking about what minibeasts like to live on or under. We were so strong and also carried some logs along too!

Fun in the sun

We have loved taking our learning outdoors this week and explored some of the great activities our Nursery has to offer. We especially loved the water area, the climbing frame and the sandpit. The children used the pipes to create fun water play ideas and noticed how if you slanted the pipes towards the floor, the water would also fall that way too. We had fun creating sandcastles in the sandpit and cooling down in the shade with a teddy bear’s picnic. Take a look!

Meanwood Valley Urban Farm Trip

We have loved going on our trips to Meanwood Valley Urban Farm this week. We went in the mini bus – which was so exciting! When we got there we looked around the farm, completed a mini beast hunt and went in the playground – it was so much fun.

We looked for mini beasts under logs, in the soil and on leaves. We spotted so many including millipedes, centipedes, slugs, snails and so many more!

Getting creative in Nursery

For the penultimate two weeks in Nursery, we have been getting creative taking inspiration from our new book – Old Mikamba had a Farm, which explained the noises African animals may make. We sung and rehearsed the song and painted pictures of our favourite African animals. We even created a group collage of a giraffe and an elephant. We have loved learning all about these exciting animals and can’t wait for our new topic – mini beasts next half term.

WE LOVE JIGSAWS!

We have loved our farm theme this term and this week we have especially loved playing our farm and animal jigsaws. The children have been independently choosing which jigsaw they would like to complete and completing them alone or with their friends, they have been especially proud of their achievements. Take a look below…

Maths fun with Hook a Duck!

Miss Wright has joined the Nursery Team this week and will be leading red group.

I have loved getting to know the children and I am really excited to continue being a part of their learning journey this term. Please come and say hello and introduce yourself if you see me!

This week, we have loved playing with the hook a duck in our water area. We have counted the number of ducks in the water tray and identified the numbers on the bottom of the ducks. Not only was this lots of fun, but we have continued to improve our counting skills.

Coronation picnic

We joined Reception and KS1 in the hall for our Coronation Picnic on Friday, we loved listening to the songs and waving our flags while we ate our picnic lunch. We loved using our fingers to make flags and shared them with the rest of the school. We also had our very own Coronation Picnic in Nursery for snack time. What a great day!
